Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 October 2009

Palin steps up to plate

• I THINK that actor and philanthropist extraordinaire Michael Palin should be commended for getting involved in the cause to keep Finsbury Health Centre in public hands. The facility serves so many people with so many diverse needs.
The work done by The Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children over 16 years is most commendable. Mr Palin’s model for the centre should be a philanthropic role model for underdeveloped nations that do not have adequate speech therapy. I always wonder if any people on the Forbes magazine list of billionaires have kids who stammer. If so, it would be great if they were to step up to the plate like Michael Palin has so many times in recent years.
I regularly recommend the website of The Michael Palin Centre to parents here in Canada. I want to mention to your readers that another helpful website is that of the Stuttering Foundation (www.stutteringhelp.org), which has many downloadable brochures in addition to streaming videos for adults, children and parents.
