Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 23 October 2009

Bills will be challenged

• AT Islington Council’s recent full council meeting, Councillor Terry Stacy implied there were very few challenges via the leasehold valuation tribunal (LVT).
What he failed to mention is that a plethora of “local” leaseholders’ associations, which I have set up, are preparing to challenge Homes for Islington’s outrageous billing for exceedingly low quality work on properties.
Although the number of challenges is small in terms of actual applications, since each case involves a great many individual leaseholders its magnitude will certainly run into, at least, heavy three figures, if not four.
It is time councillors protected residents from the over-zealous attention of the council’s billing department, and thereby saved the borough a fortune in legal fees in defence of a “few” plainly indefensible LVT cases.
Dr BS Potter
Chairman, Islington Leaseholders’ Association
