Police probe shooting links after man is gunned down

THE family of a Clerkenwell man gunned down in an east London Turkish social club have described him as “the nicest person anybody ever met”.
Cem Duzgun, 21, of Mallory Buildings in St John Street, was shot dead on Monday when gunmen opened fire on a social club in Clapton, Hackney.
His killing follows that of two others in the Turkish community this year: shopkeeper Ahmet Paytak, 50, who was shot in a case of mistaken identity in Holloway in March, and Oktay Erbasli, 23, who was killed in Tottenham three days before Mr Duzgun.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the three cases were being overseen by one police sergeant and a connection between them was an “obvious” line of enquiry. However, she said detectives were “keeping an open mind about the motive” and that all three killings were currently being investigated separately.
Mr Paytak’s murder has been linked to a shooting in Clapton earlier that day.
Detectives have been looking into whether the deaths are linked to a turf war between Turkish drug dealing gangs the Bombacilar and the Tottenham Boys.
Yesterday (Thursday), Mr Duzgun’s family denied he was involved in drugs and said the tragedy had shocked the community.
A relative, who didn’t want to be identified, said: “He was a nice person.
“Everybody said he was the nicest person they met. Everyone’s shocked, nobody believes it. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. We want the police to investigate.”
She added: “Everything is not as it seems. Just because you hear it’s drug related doesn’t mean it is.”

I WAS VERY CLOSE TO CEM. CEM WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN ANY GANG OR DRUG DEALING HE WAS SWEET AS ANYTHING HE HAD COME TO THE SOCIAL CLUB TO PLAY POOL AS HE WAS LEAVING. HIS KILLER WALKED IN AND OPENED FIRE. I COULD NEVER GET MY HEAD AROUND IN WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING JUST TO GET A QUICK ANSWER PEOPLE ARE SAYING HE WAS INVOLVED IN GANGS AND DRUGS. HE WORKED 6 DAYS A WEEK AT A CLOTHES SHOP IN CROYDEN.I CANT FIND WORDS TO EXPLAIN WHAT HIS FAMILY IS GOING THROUGH OR HIS FRIENDS.HE JUST LOVED BEING WITH HIS FRIENDS.AND DOING THINGS TOGETHER.I JUST HOPE HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE NOW.

I WAS Cem's cousin... I never saw Cem often but when i did... he was realy close and helpful. Cem had a lot of friends. He was not involved with drugs just because you hear it. No one can still belive what has happened.
