Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 31 July 2009

Wrong to move office

• IN response to the letter on the Office of the Public Guardian moving buildings (Office shake up will have a big impact on Archway, July 24), I want to add that, having already moved our scanning team to Birmingham, where all our customer post is now redirected, we have had no end of cases where documents have been lost in transit.
Customers are even more confused because our applications still have the Archway address on them. This will continue to occur because the old application will still be in use until March 2011 even though they are bringing a revised one out in October this year.
All we have seen are added problems in processing and turn-around times and a poorer service.
These people in management are playing with people and their families’ lives. I have worked in a mortgage contact centre before and can honestly say that getting a lasting power of attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian is by far a more stressful and almost traumatic experience than moving house. In summary, the system is wrong, moving is wrong.
