Police outside the property where a man was found
Neighbours find man stabbed after screams

NEIGHBOURS hearing screams rushed to help after a man was stabbed inside a house in Holloway on Wednesday night.
But attempts by emergency services to save the man failed and he died following the stabbing at a hostel in Caledonian Road, opposite the Stock Orchard estate.
One neighbour described how she heard a women’s screams coming from the house. She said: “I rushed to see what I could do and saw a man lying on the floor in the hallway in a pool of blood. The paramedics soon arrived and were trying to save him. I understand he died some time later.”
Police put up cordons in a quarter-mile area searching for a weapon and a possible suspect.
The victim was a 55-year-old male. Police did not provide an identity at the time of going to press.
Detectives appealed for witnesses, urging anyone who had seen “someone acting suspiciously” between 6pm and 6.30pm in the vicinity of the killing to come forward.
The suspect is believed to have left the scene after the incident.
Residents reported hearing sounds of an argument.
Detective in charge of the case, Detective Inspector Andy Chalmers, appealed for witnesses.
He said: “We want to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Caledonian Road or Cardozo Road at the time of the murder which is believed to have taken place between the hours of 18:00 and 18:30 on Wednesday. You may have seen someone acting suspiciously at the time.”
Erdal Ordak, 22, of Hasret Supermarket, said: “At first I just thought it was a car crash because the ambulance was there for a long time – before the police came. Obviously I’m nervous – we live in this area as well as work here, but people get used to it. Every street in the area has a history of something happening.”
A suspect was arrested over the stabbing on Wednesday night. He is being held at a north London police station.
Anyone with information can call the police incident room on 020 8358 0200.
