Streets ahead! Festival success

IT WAS a dog day afternoon on Saturday as more than 50 pets turned out to compete in the Amwell Street Festival’s canine competition.
It was only the second year of the festival but numbers swelled as hundreds flocked to Amwell Street to enjoy the festivities.
Children enjoyed Alice in Wonderland-themed acts, foodies sampled international delicacies, visitors splashed out on raffle tickets and nearby St Mark’s Church held a cake stall. Dale Barter, who runs the Amwell Veterinary Surgery, said: “There was great weather, two new shops opened on the day and we must have raised a couple of thousand pounds for charity.”
