Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 June 2009

Still full of energy at 90

• THANK you so much for your coverage of the Elfrida Society’s recent fun day at Islington Green (Society birthday bash! June 19). We were delighted with the excellent photographs.
I would like to tell readers that, despite being 90 years old this year (our work was started by Elfrida Rathbone in King’s Cross in 1919), we are still full of energy!
We work with adults with learning difficulties and are largely (though not completely) funded by Islington Council. We provide literacy and numeracy classes, arts groups and speaking-up/self-advocacy groups, as well as support for people with learning difficulties living in their own homes.
We work with parents with learning difficulties and our access to health projects supports people with learning difficulties when contacting health professionals and also provides a range of accessible health leaflets produced in partnership with health experts. We publish a specialist magazine, Community Living. We are always pleased to make contact with people who may need our services. To find out more, go to www.elfrida.com or call 020 7359 7443
