Cop-chase biker banned

A TEENAGER convicted of aggravated vehicle taking has been banned from the roads for 18 months.
The 18-year-old, from Packington Square, Islington, was seen by police riding a stolen motorbike erratically in City Road, Finsbury, in the early hours of April 17. He went through a red light at the junction with Bath Street and cut across a lorry, almost causing a collision, at Old Street roundabout.
After mounting the pavement, he lost control, dropped the 1300cc motorcycle and ran off. He was chased and arrested by police.
At Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court last week, he was given a 12-month community order and banned from driving for 18 months. The accused had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking.
An Asbo granted by the court prevents the teenager being on or touching a scooter, moped or motorcycle without the owner’s consent.
