Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 19 June 2009

Free food in all primaries

• I AM astonished by the decision of the Lib Dems to introduce a “pilot scheme” for free school dinners. During the debate on the budget, they cried foul when the Labour group won the vote to introduce free lunches for primary school children. They apparently think only their decisions should count.
When a budget is set decisions have to be implemented and the money made available. It’s called democracy.
I am a pensioner and I’m delighted to think that this age group of children will be guaranteed a good lunch every day. Let’s see it started in every primary school in Islington immediately.
