Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 5 June 2009

Discount diddle

• I’M A pensioner, Islington born and bred. So I was delighted when I read in your paper recently about the planned pensioner council tax discount.
But when I rung up the council about it I was told I wouldn’t get this money because I am on council tax benefit already. What a con.
Labour has been going round making out all pensioners will get this money. But it’s not true.
How many other people have they diddled with all their big talk?
This does nothing for me and thousands of pensioners in the same boat as me.
