Drugs police swoop

A ROOM in a hotel has been boarded up after police seized crack cocaine and £1,000 in cash during a raid on four addresses in Holloway.
Islington police swooped on the properties, all in the St George’s area, following neighbours’ complaints about a man believed to have been dealing drugs in the area.
The police’s Hillrise Safer Neighbourhoods team, Islington problem- solving team, crime squad and dog support unit mounted a joint operation in March, seizing £800 worth of crack cocaine and £1,000 in cash from four properties. The cash was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Police obtained a drugs closure order for a room at one of the addresses raided – in Anson Street – banning anyone from entering it for three months.
Two women aged 26 and 29 and a 44-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. No further action was taken against them. The investigation is ongoing.
PC James Burgess, from St George’s Safer Neighbourhoods police team, said: “We will not tolerate drug dealing. This operation was a direct response to information provided by the community. It demonstrates that with their help and support we can reduce criminal activity in Islington.”
