MP Emily Thornberry
Pupils’ plea to Brown

PRIMARY pupils have urged Prime Minister Gordon Brown to ensure every child has the chance to learn to read.
Letters from children at Hungerford Primary School, in Hungerford Road, Holloway, putting their case to the PM, were handed to Islington South and Finsbury Labour MP Emily Thornberry on Friday.
The messages highlight the plight of 75 million children around the world who do not go to school. Children’s author Joe Craig, who created the Jimmy Coates books, gave the children writing tips. Teacher Paul Atkin said: “This is an international campaign that grew out of Make Poverty History. We’ve had authors like Joe Craig and Dennis Bond do writing workshops with the kids. They really enjoy it”
