Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 May 2009

Make ‘party buses’ safe

• LIBERAL Democrats have been pushing Mayor of London Boris Johnson for months now to make sure the new policing team at Finsbury Park station hits the streets as quickly as possible, given all the problems there have been with hundreds of young people congregating at the bus station at night.
Liberal Democrats have also been pushing the Mayor to accept there are real issues around anti-social behaviour and crime on the 29 and N29 bendy bus routes. I am now calling on the Mayor to ensure the new policing team works with the council and other police teams to ensure resident safety at Finsbury Park station and on all the buses in the area, but especially the 29 and N29 hop-on, hop-off “party buses”.
The new police team needs to operate at night when most of these problems occur – not down tools at 10pm.
CLLR TERRY STACY
Lib Dem executive member for community safety
