Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 17 April 2009

It’s time to fix clocks

• I AM grateful to Leo Chapman for bringing the problem of stopped clocks to your readers’ attention (Time stands still in Islington, April 10). It is something I am greatly saddened by as it shows a lack of civic pride which is so prevalent today.
As Mr Chapman says, it would not cost a lot to repair these clocks and the amount would barely be noticed in the overall budget.
I suggest Councillor Jyoti Vaja should make it a priority and not brush it off with a list of other worthy expenditure. Who knows, had the Labour council members not played politics by giving away money and free schools meals to those not needing such handouts there might have been enough money for the repair of clocks.
