Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 20 March 2009

One way to stay safe

• WHAT is the matter with cyclists these days, with their complete disregard for the rules of the road?
I live by Whitecross Street, Finsbury, which houses the Golden Lane Campus. It’s a one-way street yet I see mothers going up the street the wrong way with children on board before dropping them off at the school.
What is the point of wearing helmets and fluorescent clothing in the interests of safety and then cycling against oncoming traffic?
No doubt these mothers tell all and sundry that they love their children to bits. Well, I’ve got advice for them. Keep cycling up Whitecross Street against container lorries coming from Waitrose and there is every chance that your child is going to end up in bits.

20mph ban for cyclists?

• DOES the new 20mph speed limit on Islington’s roads mean that cyclists doing more than 20mph, which many can do, will face prosecution for speeding?
