Sunday rail closures

RAIL improvements will mean massive disruption for passengers on the Gospel Oak-Barking line.
As well as current weekend disruption, the line will be closed for engineering work every Sunday from April 19 and will completely shut for 16 weeks from Christmas Day this year.
Transport for London officials told a meeting of Islington Council’s north area committee on Tuesday that the closures – replacement buses are to run twice an hour in both directions – were needed to bring the neglected line up to date.
Labour councillor Richard Watts urged TfL to ensure noise was kept to a minimum during the improvement work, particularly at night.
Lib Dem mayor Councillor Stefan Kasprzyk is calling for embankments to be cleared of litter. Labour councillor Janet Burgess suggested that Junction Road station, closed in 1984, could reopen.
