Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 13 March 2009

Minister must protect this architectural gem

WE welcome the decision on Finsbury Health Centre which was taken at Islington Council’s health and wellbeing committee recently.
The agreement to refer the issue of closure to the minister responsible, Alan Johnson, was reached after full debate among elected members who felt that, not only had the general public not been consulted fully, but the members themselves also.
This architectural gem has potentially been saved in order to house much-needed services to the community.
As trade unionists, a major priority of ours is to protect services for ordinary working people.
We are proud to have supported and will continue to support Save Finsbury Health Centre campaign.
We urge Mr Johnson to exercise his judgement wisely by deciding to keep this building open so that the invaluable work carried out in it will continue.
