Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 20 February 2009

Boris, take up PC fight

• BORIS Johnson often goes on about political correctness. So he must now take up the standard and stop the dismissal of a teacher for showing Shakespeare in Love at his previous school before teaching at Canonbury Primary School (Teacher in movie row fights back, February 13).
Yes, it is a 15-rated film and it was a foolish thing to do, but this single act should not destroy the career of a talented teacher.
I am sure Boris and most of the parents who send their children to Canonbury have got Shakespeare in Love on their shelves.
Many will have already shown the film to their children.
I don’t send my kids to Canonbury but I watched the film with my daughters, aged 8 and 10, both of whom loved it.
So come on, Boris. Stand up and fight for the things you profess to believe in!
