Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 30 January 2009

Bridging station gap

RAIL bosses have turned a deaf ear to residents and their wish to have continued access to King’s Cross station from York Way. The Lib Dem council has now stepped in where Network Rail refuses to go.
Council funding will allow a proper study to be carried out into the costs of building a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge from Wharfdale Road. Why should Islington residents be treated like second-class citizens?
Letting local people into the station quickly and easily is the best way to encourage everyone to use public transport whenever they can.
Yet, despite all the new investment and regeneration arriving at King’s Cross, it seems Network Rail is happy to let the station turn its back on Islington for the first time ever in its history.
