King’s Cross office block proposals are thrown out

PLANS for a six-storey office block in King’s Cross have been rejected because of concerns the development would cast a large shadow over a neighbouring housing estate.
After almost 10 years of setbacks, developers Fox must draw up fresh plans after Town Hall planning chiefs refused permission to build on the former warehouse in Rodney Street.
Proposals for the eight-flat, mixed-use scheme were heard at the West Area Planning Sub-Committee.
If Fox get the green light in the future, builders will have to consult with Crossrail project managers as the site is on the route of the proposed “Crossrail 2” tunnel – a rail link running between Wimbledon and north-east London.
Planning officials said the decision to refuse permission for the block was taken as “the new building would cause loss of residential amenity to the residents of Rodney House by virtue of loss of light and the creation of an unacceptable sense of enclosure.”
It was also deemed too invasive to the nearby printworks due to “mutual overlooking and loss of privacy”.
