Gunners fans banned over spitting

ARSENAL Football Club have handed life bans to a number of £3,000-a-season ticket holders, after they were caught spitting and hurling abuse at visiting supporters in October.
The club took action following a police investigation after Everton fans complained about loutish behaviour.
The culprits had exclusive “Club-level” seats – some of the most expensive in the 60,000-seat Emirates Stadium.
Following the incident, Arsenal wrote to the aggrieved Everton fans.
The letter said: “As a result of investigations a number of Arsenal members have had their membership and ticket-purchasing rights rescinded on a permanent basis.”
It is understood that the visiting supporters also complained about the standard of stewarding on the day in question, claiming they ignored the offending fans.
The club said that as a result of the complaints, a number of stewards had been “monitored” and some had been moved elsewhere in the ground.
