Water spring to be explored

DIGGERS are working in Kings Square to create a new freshwater well.
The council hopes to use water from the natural springs which lie underneath Finsbury in times of water bans during droughts and to help in cases of fire.
Leisure chief councillor Ruth Polling said: “The whole of EC1 has natural springs underground.
“So we’re digging a well so we’ll have our own supply of water which can help water our trees and displays in parks. This means we won’t be draining other sources.”
