Drugs and alcohol killed solicitor’s clerk: inquest

AN unemployed solicitor’s clerk died from the “combined effects of drug and alcohol abuse,” a coroner ruled yesterday (Thursday).
A post mortem revealed Charles Martin, 37, of Granville Road, Hornsey, who was found dying in the same street in April, had fatal levels of heroin and alcohol in his blood. An unidentified neighbour who called 999 refused to give their name or address to paramedics. Police investigations found Mr Martin’s death was not suspicious.
St Pancras Coroner’s Court heard that Mr Martin suffered from bipolar disorder and had been unemployed for some time, but his condition had “recently been characterised by drugs and alcohol” said coroner Dr Andrew Reid.
