Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 12 December 2008

Pupils serve up real treat

• A CHRISTMAS lunch plus pantomime took place on Friday for Islington pensioners. The co-ordinator, Ashley, and teacher/chef Mark put on such a wonderful welcome and served up great food for the more than 80 people present at Islington Arts and Media School in Turle Road, Finsbury Park.
The wonderful volunteers brought food to the tables for those who could not manage to queue, so everyone was really well looked after.
Mark sorted out the catering, with the help of the school students, a great bunch of young lads and lassies who gave their time freely for such a happy and worthy cause. The manners and help shown by all of them were nothing but brilliant. Care and concern were the order of the day.
After lunch, the pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, staged by these students was simply fantastic. They helped to make the costumes and the props.
They sang, danced and indeed demonstrated the wonder of our modern youth. I’m sure there were a few tears around, including mine, because the whole set-up was under the heading “care”.
Thanking you kindly.
