The Volvo finished up in basement
Arrest after dramatic car crash

TWO men escaped unhurt after a Volvo car hit the pavement and somersaulted over railings into the basement of a Barnsbury house.
Miraculously nobody was injured at the site of the accident, a house in Offord Road which has steps where children often sit and play. And no one was at home at the time.
The dramatic crash happened at about 1pm on Friday when police officers from the Borough Support Unit in Liverpool Road saw a man driving a grey Volvo and talking on his mobile telephone.
They signalled to the driver to pull over but the car drove on. It was later found upturned in the basement of an Offord Road house. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle and run down Offord Road. An officer chased and detained him. A large sum of money and a bag containing white powder believed to be Class A drugs were recovered.
An ambulance crew attended the scene but the suspect and a male passenger who was also in the Volvo did not need attention.
A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and taking and driving away a vehicle. He was taken to Islington police station, where he was bailed until January 21 pending further inquiries.
