Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 21 November 2008

Tree loses out to car

• IT is not only vandals and contractors who are removing trees in Islington. Homes for Islington has removed a mature tree to create a new space in a car park that has three spaces used and three unrented spaces. This state has been consistent for two years.
Despite numerous contacts over a month, neither Islington Council or Homes for Islington has responded to communications. I’m sure that a home-owner removing a tree from a front garden to provide a parking space would be treated differently.
The council held an expensive event recently to teach children the value of trees and yet undertakes this action at the same time. It seems the council operates a different agenda to suit itself.
