Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 21 November 2008

Scaffolding cash drain

• YOUR front-page article suggests pensioners are being left in the cold because the council is unable to afford the costs of scaffolding (Scaffolding hitch leaves elderly shivering, November 14). I am not surprised they have run out of funds as they are quick enough to waste them on scaffolding elsewhere.
I live next to a council house which was decorated over four months, resulting in expensive scaffolding being left for a period of some six weeks before work was even started. What a waste of council funds!
I can tell you how expensive scaffolding is as just recently I paid £1,000 plus vat to cover a period of two weeks. Seems the council’s time-management and efficiency skills need to be improved.
