Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 07 November 2008

When help is missing

• AT the next full council meeting I will be renewing calls for the re-establishment of a Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB) in Islington.
It is unacceptable that in the current economic climate there is no CAB service in Islington. Islington South, in particular, is poorly served for advice services, with no law centre.
Residents across the borough will be facing financial pressure as a result of the worsening economic situation. With those claiming benefits for the first time, help will be needed to fill in the necessary forms.
Government, including local government, needs to be supporting people through these troubled times. It is not correct to be laissez faire in the current climate. Islington Council ought to look at this again.
Cllr Catherine West
Leader, Islington Labour councillors
