Hospital in ‘lost-and-found’ discs bungle comes under fire

THE payroll department at Whittington Hospital has been criticised after wrongly announcing it had lost confidential details belonging to thousands of health workers.
The Archway hospital found the four CDs containing the payroll information four days after causing staff panic by announcing they had been lost.
The hospital provides payroll services for Camden Primary Care Trust, whose board was told on Monday: “There is a potential lack of payroll leadership [at the hospital] as a result of recent events.”
The payroll service was described as “inadequate” and it was claimed there was a risk of staff receiving “inaccurate salary, pension and other payments”.
Almost 1,500 PCT workers were told their details had been lost in the bungle and at a staff meeting calls were made for a review of the contract with the hospital.
The PCT has called a meeting to discuss future arrangements.
