Pupils’ feet don’t touch the ground as they scale new heights

CHILDREN at St Mary’s Primary School in Canonbury are getting to grips with a new climbing wall built in their playground during the summer.
Much of the school, in Fowler Road, was involved with the construction of the wall, with children in Year 1 helping to design colourful images of beaches and forests.
Year 3 pupils made a set of rules demonstrating how the wall could be used safely.
Headteacher Wendy Rudge said the climbing wall proved the ideal addition to the playground as it does not take up a huge amount of
space.
“It’s so nice to have this colourful climbing wall to replace the boring line of breeze blocks that used to stand there,” she added. The children are really enjoying the challenge of climbing along the full length of the wall and it’s proving a very safe, active and stimulating way for them to play.”
