Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 August 2008

Revival of nasty party

• FOR the Tories to side with the Labour Party just shows what this world is coming to (United in fighting any form of discrimination, August 15). I am shocked by both of them and, as someone who has lots of gay friends, I would not want either Labour councillor Catherine West or any of the Tories representing me.
Even though I haven’t voted for them before, I think the Lib Dems are right to complain over claims that Cllr West made fun of a Lib Dem councillor for being gay.
I hope we never see Cllr West as leader of Islington Council as lots of gay people live in this borough and she would have to represent them too. I want to see her apologise, and then the complaint can be withdrawn.
Richard Bunting, by intervening on this issue, shows that the Tories are still the same old nasty party as we always knew them to be. Boris might be okay, but the rest of them aren’t.
