Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 15 August 2008

Ban dogs

• DOG fouling has been universally condemned and I welcome Islington Council’s initiative to deter offenders with fines of £80.
But reality tells me there will not be hundreds of fines every week and enforcement will be very limited.
To take one small example, Newington Green, a small enclosed green with frequent events. There is often a lot of mess on the green because irresponsible dog owners are not picking up.
I contacted the three Liberal Democrat councillors suggesting a ban on dogs on the green. One replied saying that she didn’t think a ban was a good idea.
The green is just too small to exercise dogs.
