Five face charges over pub killing

A FINSBURY man who has campaigned for justice since the killing of his brother 21 years ago has welcomed the appearance of five men at the Old Bailey.
Alastair Morgan spent two decades insisting that the original Met investigation into the death of his brother Daniel was flawed. He was found in a pub car park in Sydenham, south London, with an axe in his head in 1987.
Yesterday (Thursday) former Met detective Sid Fillery appeared in court charged with perverting the course of justice while four other men faced murder charges.
Mr Morgan said: “I am happy that this trial could bring to an end a long ordeal for me and my family.”
Mr Fillery, 62, from Norfolk, William Rees, 53, from Weybridge, Surrey, James Cook, 53, from Tadworth, Surrey, and Glenn Vian, 50, and Garry Vian, 48, of no fixed address, were remanded in custody until their trial on April 21 next year.
No pleas were entered.
