Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 18 July 2008

Plug pulled on a legend

TO me and thousands of others, Boris Johnson, the new Mayor of London, is a disgrace. First, for the Rise Festival at Finsbury Park the “Rise against racism” slogan was deleted.
Then, one of the greatest legends of our time, Jimmy Cliff, was cut off in mid-concert because he spoke the truth: we all know about Iraq and we certainly never forget Vietnam.
How dare Mr Johnson and his cronies destroy what was a brilliant time at our festival.
Maria Nicola
Torriano Avenue, NW5
