Jumblies-theme carnival in park

ARCHWAY’S event of the year is staged tomorrow (Saturday) when more than 200 children – including 20 on stilts – take part in a carnival spectacular at Whittington Park as part of Holloway Arts Festival.
The children have been busy making masks and props to wear for the carnival parade. Workshops have been held by The Rowan Arts Project, which produces the festival.
Based on The Jumblies, a poem by Edward Lear, who was born in Holloway in 1812, the carnival promises to be a feast of colour and music.
A free family day, with music, dance, performance and arts and crafts, runs from 11.30am until 6pm. Children from Grafton, Duncombe, Tufnell Park and Hargrave Park primary schools, Cornwallis Youth and Play Project and Whittington Park Community Association will take part in the 1pm carnival procession at 1pm.
