Frightened youths offered protection after boy is stabbed to death

MURDER squad detectives are urging reluctant teenagers to help them find the killers of Ben Kinsella.
Senior officers said there was a “perverse loyalty” among key witnesses who had yet to come forward.
The Tribune has learned that some who have already helped their inquiry into how Ben, 16, was stabbed in York Way early on Sunday, have been offered protection after admitting they fear for their safety.
Holloway School student Ben was well known across Islington and his friends and neighbours have been left in shock by his death.
Police have gone door to door in the Holloway area and specifically requested to speak to teens.
The pressure is on officers to get results as soon as possible with the strength of feeling surrounding the case already exposed by a massive march through Islington on Tuesday.
Ben’s family have pledged to join the fight against knife crime while relatives involved in similar tragedies have called for firm action.
The council has come under pressure to explain why recommendations of a recent youth crime commission have yet to be implemented.
