Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 27 June 2008

Surprised by gas work

• I WRITE as a frustrated pensioner and member of our Finsbury estate tenants’ and residents’ association. On May 7 a letter pushed through my letter-box stated that Morrison and National Grid Gas were planning to replace gas supplies in our building. It said these works had been agreed with Homes for Islington (HfI).
As I have not heard from HfI nor have I had any dealings with this gas contractor previously, I thought it was a hoax.
British Gas, our normal supplier, knew nothing about it.
DAVID WILLIAMS
Charles Townsend estate, EC1

Editor’s note: An HfI spokesman has said: “The gas works at Charles Townsend House are being carried out by National Grid not Homes for Islington. National Grid has distributed information on the planned works to residents.”
