TV favourite Dermot opens hospital’s pathbreaking centre

TELEVISION presenter Dermot Murnaghan has officially opened Whittington Hospital’s new day treatment centre.
He was joined by one of the Archway hospital’s oldest outpatients, 86-year-old Helen Marlow, who was first treated at the Whittington 50 years ago.
The new centre is the largest purpose-built day healthcare unit in north London. It has four operating theatres, three endoscopy treatment rooms, a minor procedure room and an interventional imaging room.
The centre has the latest infection control technology, right down to easy-to-clean computer keyboards and MRSA-proof curtains.
Hospital chairman Joe Liddane said: “Patients who have already used the new centre have said they would recommend the service to their family and friends.
“This is a really wonderful resource and is the next step in our continuing programme of improving the buildings, processes and patient experience at the Whittington.”
