Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 6 June 2008

Vulnerable pay price

• THE latest comments from Councillor John Gilbert concerning the axing of bus services to some of the most vulnerable people in the borough show us that our Lib Dem councillors have got their priorities wrong (Vulnerable hit again, May 30).
Rather than aim to provide these front-line services at the best possible value to council tax-payers, we have councillors who prefer to maintain their multi-million pound “communication” budget to promote themselves and a bloated middle management bureaucracy at the Town Hall to help them stay in power. As usual, it’s vulnerable people who pay the price. The people of Islington deserve better than this.
Chris Heathcote
Bunhill ward chairman, Islington Conservatives
