Custody death inquiry

AN investigation has been launched after a 23-year-old man died in police custody.
Oyinloye Francis Alabi Awogboro was chased by a marked car after jumping a red light in Seven Sisters Road on Sunday.
Mr Awogboro, from Bermondsey, south London, finally stopped in Parkside Crescent, Holloway. He became unwell after being taken to Islington police station in Tolpuddle Street. He was given first aid and taken to hospital, but died that night.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC) is investigating the death.
An IPCC spokesman said: “Commissioner David Petch decided to carry out an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.”
The post-mortem examination on Monday was inconclusive and an inquest, opened at St Pancras Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, was adjourned until July 8.
