Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 9 May 2008

A gig to remember

• THE article by Don Ryan (Take a stroll down melody lane, April 25), relating the 1960s Soho Music scene, brought back many happy memories.
You published an advertising hoarding for the Marquee in Wardour Street for New Year’s Eve with Jimmy James headlining and The Bunch as support group. From memory I think this must have been 1966.
I was the manager of The Bunch, who were a seven-piece “soul” group.
I remember this particular gig very vividly in so far as the band really “went down a storm” with the packed Marquee crowd.
The Soho music scene at that time was so exciting and vibrant, with numerous live music venues, including the Flamingo, the Scene and Beat City. Great days indeed!
