Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 9 May 2008

Project is open to all

• DELIGHTED though I am at your coverage of the opening of The Wellbeing Project at Hargrave Park Community School, there are two points I would like to clarify (Walk-in centre a tribute from a mother to her son, May 2). First, all of our activities are completely inclusive. To join, you do not have to have a problem, only to want to take part and be willing to respect others.
Many activities are free of charge and the rest charge a subsidised fee. I always enjoy the ones I take part in, and am only sorry that I haven’t set aside the time for the Wednesday evening cook-and-eat class, which sounds like an unbeatable way of improving standards for uninspired cooks like me.
Second, although I am an enthusiastic volunteer in many Stuart Low Trust activities, there would be no Wellbeing Project if it weren’t for the magnificent fundraising and project development work of our treasurer, Michael Gwinnell, as well as general manager Laurence Higgens and project manager Louise Palmer.
With the help of other members of the team, Louise has transformed the project idea into a reality. She is still looking for volunteers to ensure chores are comfortably shared and everything runs smoothly.
As the Wellbeing Project is only fully funded for six months, we hope many Tribune readers new to our activities will hurry down and try out the options. The current programme is available on our website, www.slt.org.uk, or by phoning the office at 020 7713 9304. Louise is normally in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays.
VIRGINIA LOW
Chair, The Stuart Low Trust
