Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 1 May 2008

Noise is a health issue

• I CAN sympathise with the woman whose quality of life is being affected by noise from a bar (Dear diary… another night without sleep, April 25).
We have suffered from noise pollution caused by a bar in City Road/Old Street area which hosts club nights and attracts a noisy crowd. However, I must say that if you live directly above a bar, as this woman does, then you must expect higher noise levels than is normally heard.
The owner of the bar appears to be taking measures to address the problem, which is more than the owners of my local bar/nightclub have done. Noise pollution has a severe effect on people’s health and quality of life. The noise team at Islington Council is a very good starting point in helping to address any problems that residents may have with noise issues.
