Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 25 April 2008

Centre safe from sell-off

• ISLINGTON Council is not planning to sell the Lambo Centre, which offers mental health services to people from the Afro-Caribbean community (Sell-off ‘short term’, April 4). This property is not, as claimed, on a list of commercial properties the council is proposing to sell, nor has it ever been on any such list.
This misinformation was particularly disappointing as this building houses an important council service for some of the more vulnerable members of society – one which we know they value and which we have no plans to close.
In the same article it is claimed the council plans to see the freehold to another building in Hornsey Road which we don’t even own.
CLLR JOHN GILBERT
Lib Dem executive member for health and adult social services
