Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 25 April 2008

Crowning glory at risk

• MANY of us remember the good old times when we either met our sweethearts or indeed tied the knot at Finsbury Town Hall. This unique and historic building, once the throbbing heart of the old London borough of Finsbury, again cries out for some tender loving care.
This listed building, which local people offered to buy but were turned down by Islington Council, is in great danger of losing its crowning glory. The ornate and magnificent clock attached to the Town Hall watches lovingly over all it surveys.
Alas, even after years of my constant pleas and requests, this cherished old clock remains silent. Come on, Urdang Dance Company, get this cherished family heirloom ticking once again.
