Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 25 April 2008

Warden’s cruel trick

• WHAT can be more cruel than having a parking attendant from Transport for London say he won’t issue me with a ticket and then doing that very thing a few days later?
I’m a disabled driver and I was stopped by the warden after I returned to my car, which displays a visible disabled badge, after buying a railway ticket at King’s Cross last week.
It was just eight minutes after four and the warden from TfL appeared to be decent enough to tell me I should not be parking after 4pm but, due to my circumstances, would not issue a ticket. I’d told him I had no idea of the time limit and hadn’t spotted the not-very-large notice about it.
Imagine my horror when a few days later notice of a fine I can ill afford to pay popped through my letterbox.
