Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 28 March 2008

Inspired by teacher

• I HAVE belatedly heard of the sad death of Trevor Carter (Campaigner ‘spoke his mind in truth and love’, March 21).

I was a pupil of Mr Carter at Brooke House School in Hackney during the 1970s. Until I met Trevor, school was a pointless exercise with “bunking off” being my favourite escape. However, under his individualistic tutelage my interest in sociology was engaged. Though we did not always share views, his skills as a teacher were to eventually push me on to gain a university degree.
I continually tell people of his ways; his straight back and amazing walking pace, as well as his genuine love and interest in everyone he taught. This gentleman was a true inspiration to me and will always remain so.
