Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 21 March 2008

Scrap the gyratory

• THAT councillors of all hues should be prepared to take a stance in favour of the removal of the one-way system at Archway is marvellous (Banner pleads: ‘End this gyratory traffic madness’, March 14).
Of course, congratulations go to the other hard-working campaigners who were at the siting of the banner, too.
The move reflects the general feeling among residents that the gyratory is a leftover from old-fashioned thinking about the amount of space real people should be prepared to give over to cars, and that it needs to be removed as soon as possible.
The change may even provide locals with new garden areas, for which there is much demand. I will come and help dig up the Tarmac.
ANITA FRIZZAMAN
