Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 February 2008

Arson slur on our area

• I was appalled at the weekend to find large posters have been erected in Biddescombe Road, Holloway, declaring it to be an area where arson attacks have occurred.
I can, however, find no record of this in the London Fire Brigade’s updated list of fires. Nor have I seen any engines or firemen in attendance.
But still my neighbourhood has to live under this undeserved slur, deterring visitors and potential new law-abiding residents.
If this refers to the estates then put the notices on the estates and not on the streets where they cause alarm and despondency.
I spent most of a day yesterday trying to talk about this to the Arson Task Force but its phones simply ring out and the Fire Brigade denied all knowledge.
Sue Huggett
Camden Road, N7
