Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 22 February 2008

A number for fairies?

• CONTACT Islington? Might as well contact the fairies.
What a bother we have had since the change of regime over waste collection – bags not collected for weeks and numerous phone calls to Contact Islington.
But then I arranged a delivery of a new mattress, and collection by the council of the old. I planned three weeks in advance. Well, of course, the new mattress was delivered as arranged (very helpful chaps who took the old mattress downstairs) but neighbours had warned that a council van had narrowly missed a parked car in the road as they had sought to collect the mattress a week early (we were away).
When I rang Contact Islington the day before the collection was due I was told they had made a mistake and nothing could be done about it. I would have to wait another week for collection… no apology.
Incidentally, on my first phone call I asked for two garden waste bags. Just guess whether they have arrived.
